Edit the custom message - Sometimes you want to add a more personal touch to the message you send. For example, a few creators we've seen have customized their DMs to say things like: "Here's the recipe my nana used to make" or "You're going to love these sheet pan nachos." Note that Instagram's character count for this type of message is 80 characters including emojis.

Edit the button text - You also can experiment with different text on your button. Maybe instead of "Here's your link!" you might want to say "Tap for Recipe". Emojis work here too!

Add up to two or more buttons - Maybe you want to include an Amazon affiliate link in your message on top of the link to your recipe. Or, you might want to include a link to join you newsletter. All of that is possible by simply clicking the "Add Button" option.

Send a text-only DM - Some creators like to experiment with occasionally removing images from their direct messages to see if it performs better than their direct messages with images. All you have to do is click the "remove image" button to see what works best for your audience.

Update the image - Last, but not least, you can also update the image that appears in your DM. We automatically pull the image from your post or reel, but if you want to change that image, all you have to do is click the "choose file" button.
