How Grocer's List handles DM sending when a post goes viral

First off, congrats! 🎉

Going viral is exciting, and we’re here to help you make the most of it.

When your post takes off, Grocer’s List works as quickly as possible to send replies and automated DMs to everyone engaging with your content.

However, there’s a catch—Meta has limits on how fast DMs and comment replies can be sen

Understanding Meta’s Rules

  • DM sending - Meta allows up to 750 sends per hour. If your account surpasses this limit, any additional replies from your followers get put into a queue. We’ll log them, and send out DMs as soon as it’s allowed.

  • Comment replies - Meta doesn’t publicly share their exact limit for comment replies, but if you’ve ever been temporarily blocked from replying, you’ve experienced what we call "Instagram Comment Jail." To help you avoid this, we pause comment replies for 24 hours as soon as Meta flags your account with a “spam detected” error. This ensures you don’t get locked out for longer.

How Our Queue System Works

Think of it like a deli counter.

  • Each comment gets a “ticket” and is placed in line.

  • If there are only a few ahead of you, replies will go out quickly.

  • If there are hundreds (or thousands), it’ll take longer, but we’ll send them in the order they were received.

What to Expect

  • You will see a banner in your Grocer's List account notifying you if your post is going viral.

  • Some delay is normal. Our system works within Meta’s limits to avoid disruptions.

  • We’ll send as many DMs as possible within 24 hours. If the queue is long, it may take a bit, but we won’t stop working for you.

So sit back, enjoy the viral moment, and let us handle the rest! 🚀
